Toronto Meet Up a Blast!

The Toronto meet up over the weekend was a huge success - those guys sure know how to throw a Frenchie party!  There had to be 50 frenchies at Pawsway on Queens Quay on Sunday - and every one of them was thoroughly adored by their family - and everyone else, for that matter.  What a wonderful experience for a breeder!

I have to say - there are some very hard times as a breeder of French Bulldogs... they are so difficult to get here, and to keep here - especially in the first couple of weeks.  The heart breaking times of losing puppies, or having to rehome the dog you thought was perfect for breeding and you adore because a health test came back less than 110% and 2 years of hopes are dashed (or 5 years of planning as the case may be). Breeding french bulldogs is not for the faint of heart, certainly.

This weekend was a moment where I could stand back and see miracles at work.  I had three generations of my blood sweat and tears there.   There were beautiful dogs of every shape, size and temperment.  There were rescues with wonderful heartwarming stories and 5 month old puppies sharing the love.  Best of all were the owners.  As a breeder I talk to my owners all the time.  I see them when they come to visit and know how proud they are, absolutely.  But to see it on such a scale!!  To see how each person was totally and completely in love with each of their frenchies.... well, no dog show can match the layman shelling out kisses to their slobbering, smiling, panting, completely happy French Bulldog!! Then multiply by 50.  It was a total recharge from everything you lose along the way.

It made every tear I've shed along the way worthwhile.
